RACIAL JUSTICE
July 5, 2020
The recent killing of George Floyd has not only brought out the harsh realities of systemic racial oppression and injustice experienced by Black Americans to full view, but it has allowed each and every one of us a chance to question what we believe in and how we can do better and help move forward as a society.
At Boulder Rugby Football Club, we believe that Black lives matter and will not tolerate racism in our club. We want Boulder Rugby Football Club to be an environment that embraces diversity and creates the opportunity for camaraderie across race, sexual orientation, religious, and political beliefs. We are committed to providing a positive atmosphere where athletes, families, and fans can come and enjoy the spirit of competition and sportsmanship. After all, we want our rugby community to be family.
Moving forward, we will improve our Code of Conduct to make certain supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion are paramount. We will require each player and member to acknowledge and uphold this Code of Conduct. If anyone demonstrates behavior that isn’t in support of our Core Values, they will be banned from the Club. BRFC will also implement a way for members to report misconduct or share feedback anonymously through our club website. We plan to take additional actions and would like your input and suggestions on where you think we could add the most value - we need your help!
Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to share any ideas or resources on how we can continue to be an inclusive organization and support our Black community.
We are listening.
