This past Saturday, December 16th, The Boulder Rugby Club participated
in This year there were 728 families, representing 2,155 kids, that came through the “Toy Shoppe” (AKA, the distribution center) in an 8 hour period of time. That was a 20% increase over last year’s numbers.
Boulder RFC contributed a record number of volunteers this year!
It was nice to see that 74 of the 240 volunteer slots filled this Saturday
(approx 1/3) came from our club. The afternoon session was HUGE – we processed 273 families in shift #1, then 400 in shift #2 and 55 in the shift #3.
These numbers do not count all the families and kids served through
several local agencies (for example, SAG gave presents to 91 kids through
“Mountain Family” and stuffed animals to kids through “
Any toys left over after the frenzy on Saturday, were boxed up and
driven to an Indian reservation in South Dakota Saturday night – unfortunately,
after this year’s large crowds, the shipment to SD was much smaller than
in year’s past. THANK-YOU to everyone who took time out of their holiday schedules to help on Saturday – it has gotten to the point where this event really relies on the support of the Boulder Rugby Club to run smoothly. Boulder Babes joins West Territory's Division I Competition
The Babes will be competing
against the Austin Valkyries, Colorado Old Girls, Denver Black Ice,
Kansas City Jazz and St Louis Sabres during 2007 in West's newly formed
Division I bracket.

Boulder Babe Elected to ERRFU Women's
Representative
At the ERRFU AGM held on December
16th, Sarah Rodriguez was elected to the poisition of Women's Rep.
Congratulations, we know you will do a great job.
In conjunction
with Harpo''s, we hosting a toy and book drive to support the Share-a-gift
program. Please bring a new unwrapped toy to the meeting. You can go
to http://www.shareagift.org/toywishlist.htm for more detials on items
they need. Share-A-Gift is an all-volunteer annual holiday project that
provides toys, bikes and books for children of low income famililes
in the area of the Boulder Valley School District (Colorado). Each year
approximately 3000 girls and boys, birth to age 14, receive these community
donations.
