Babes Rugby
Before May 2003, female rugby players in the Boulder, Colorado area had to travel at least 30 miles to practice and play. There was no local team for women who recently graduated from Colorado's largest university, and Colorado was ready for another women's team. Recognizing these shortcomings and needs, Iseult Young and Anna Smith, with support from the then 37-year-old Boulder Rugby Football Club, founded the Boulder Babes. A sevens team was quickly put together and by the fall of 2003, the Babes had enough players to attend some tournaments and to organize a few friendly matches with local teams. With a memebership consisting of veterans who'd played in colleges nationwide as well as a few dedicated rookies, the Babes were officially incorporated into BRFC and began competing as a USA Rugby Division 1 team. Looking For New Players. No experience needed. Do you miss being part of a team sport or ever wanted to play one? Check out our section about playing.
